Sammy Metcalfe (London, 1983) is a writer, director, sound designer and performer based between the UK and Spain. As artistic director of Sleepwalk Collective, the award-winning UK/Spanish experimental theatre company he co-founded in 2006, he has written and directed shows that have toured to theatres and festivals across Europe, Australia and the Americas. He also collaborates regularly with artists and companies across Europe (including Christopher Brett Bailey, Nhung Company, Gillie Kleiman & Greg Wohead, ATRESBANDES, and many more) as a writer, dramaturg and sound designer, and has worked with Factoría de Fuegos to produce and organise events in Spain, including the annual inTACTO festival of cutting-edge theatre and dance (2011-2018). He has also curated events and run projects at the Centro Conde Duque in Madrid while he was Associate Artist there from 2018-2020, and regularly teaches devising and composition at schools including Rose Bruford, CSSD, and the Arden School of Theatre. His writing for performance is published in the UK by Salamander Street and Oberon Books.
